Quarter Days

Rent in UK commercial leases is often stated to be paid on the usual Quarter Days. These are March 25 (Lady Day), June 24 (Midsummer Day), September 29 (Michaelmas) and December 25 (Christmas Day)

Traditional Scottish Quarter Days are different again – February 2 (Candlemas), May 15 (Whitsun), August 1 (Lammas) and November 11 (Martinmas).

With effect from 1990, legislation has specified that new Scottish Quarter Days are February 28, May 28, August 28 and November 28
