Camera Phones

Are the additional features, notably the built in camera really necessary?

Digital camera phones are certainly one of the latest electronic fads, but they can also offer real business benefits, but a camera phone should be considered with care and the benefits over a normal mobile phone assessed prior to committing your company to a lengthy service contract.

The obvious question is "Are the additional features, notably the built in camera really necessary?"

If you need a phone for a communication tool, to keep in contact, then a camera is probably not required. The quality of the cameras in mobile phones are still not of a quality that you will win too many awards with the pictures you take on them. If you need a high quality digital camera then get a 5 mega pixel camera and a normal mobile phone - you are likely to be better pleased with the results from both.

So when might a camera phone be useful? For many professions where staff are out and about, having a camera to hand could be incredibly useful. In the Real Estate profession, for example, a picture of progress on site, or a potential opportunity can be taken in sufficient quality for research at a later time, without the need for always carrying a separate camera. In the engineering or technical industries, someone on site could take a picture showing a certain problem detail and send it back to the office for comment by colleagues; instant results, instant customer satisfaction.

So if you decide to go for a camera phone, where do you start, which do you choose? Camera Phone Review provides up to date information on the latest phones and packages available.

Of course if you want a camera phone for the fun of it, then thats fine, but our recommendation - consider what you want from a phone and get the equipment you need
