Business Broadband

The price and availability of Broadband in the UK is continuing to improve; is it time to look at your business connectivity again?

Coupled with the growth of email to an almost essential business communications tool means many businesses need to have an “always open” connection to the internet to collect email. A dial up connection with one email address that served entire companies just doesn’t cut it anymore.

The good news is that Broadband is now relatively straight forward to install in most areas and the monthly costs are now generally fairly low and coming close to the cost of dial up connections. Certainly the cost and availability of broadband means that an ISDN line is not required in order to provide an email service to rival that of any large organisation.

Depending on offers available at anyone time, you can expect to pay a one off connection charge, a monthly fee (depending on the capacity of the service) and commit to a twelve month contract.

Broadband (also known as ADSL, or Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line) is available either via a cable supplier in which case you are limited to the cable company, or via a BT telephone line. In this case there are a large number of providers who can supply the service whilst still leaving you with the use of the telephone line. (This was one of the initial selling points of ADSL that you could talk and surf at the same time).
